Appointed Person First Aid Course
This one-day course teaches you the necessary skills needed to be a successful Appointed Person in the workplace in line with Health and Safety Executive standards.
The course is also recommended for staff giving support to first aiders in larger organisations.
Both practical and theory first aid work is carried out and your performance will be assessed throughout the day.
What you will learn:
• Health and safety first aid regulations
• Assessing and prioritising a first aid incident
• Resuscitation
• Choking
• Treatment of unconscious casualty
• Treatment of shock
• Using and maintaining first aid kits
• Heart attack/angina attack casualties
• Controlling minor and major bleeding
• Sprains, strains, fractures and dislocations
The course is run in partnership with nuco training and on completion you will be awarded an Emergency First Aid certificate valid for three years.

Three-Day First Aid at Work Course
During this three-day course you will learn the practical skills needed by a first aider to deal with first aid emergencies confidently. The course is open to people nominated to be a first aider by their workplace. On completion you will have the knowledge and skills to proficiently deal with a wide range of first aid emergencies and medical conditions.
Tailored to the requirements of each specific workplace, it involves theory and practical-based learning. On the third day you will be given a theory and practical assessment, which is monitored by an external assessor.
What you will learn:
• Assessing and prioritising a first aid incident
• Accidents and illness
• Using and maintaining a first aid kit
• Duty of the first aider
• Record keeping
• Treatment of an unconscious casualty
• Heart attack/angina attack casualties
• Resuscitation
• Asthma
• Low blood sugar
• Fainting
• Treatment of shock
• Brain and the nervous system conditions - stroke, epilepsy
• Choking
• Controlling minor and major bleeding
• Burns and scalds
• Electrocution and drowning
• Sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations, spinal injury
• Seizures
• Internal bleeding
• Head injuries - concussion/compression
• Monitoring response levels
After successfully completing the final assessment you will receive a HSE approved First Aid at Work certificate valid in the workplace for three years.
As of October 2009, qualified first aiders are required to undertake a one-day refresher course each year, enabling them to keep up to date with any relevant changes.

12 Hours Pediatric First Aid Course
Over two days this course provides you with the knowledge and ability to deal with emergency first aid situations involving children and follows the OFSTED syllabus for childminders.
What you will learn:
• Assess and prioritise a first aid incident
• Assessment of casualties
• Resuscitation
• Choking
• Recovery position
• Causes and treatment of unconsciousness
• Blood loss and wounds
• Typical childhood illnesses
• Bleeds and burns
• Legislation
Attendees are issued with a Certificate in Paediatric First Aid upon completion of the course.

One-Day Appointed Person and Child Course
This one-day course is tailored to meet the specific needs of people working with children, such as in a school environment. It is the minimum qualification recommended by the Health & Safety Executive.
On completion of the course you will have the knowledge and skills to deal with first aid emergencies and will be qualified to as an Appointed Person. You will be able to take responsibility for first aid emergencies in the workplace.
The course is also recommended for staff who support to first aiders who have completed a three-day First Aid at Work course.

• Prioritisation of casualties
• Causes and treatment of unconsciousness
• Resuscitation
• Choking
• Using and maintaining first aid kits
• Controlling minor/major bleeding

• Recognising conditions such as asthma and epilepsy
• Head injuries - concussion/compression
On completion you will be awarded an Emergency First Aid certificate valid for three years.
